In Germany, 7,534 new infections with the coronavirus have been registered within one day. This is according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) from Tuesday morning. For comparison: on Tuesday a week ago the value had been 10,976. According to the RKI, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days was 141.4 nationwide on Tuesday morning (previous day: 146.9; previous week: 167.6).
Across Germany, 315 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to RKI data. Exactly one week ago, there were 344 deaths.
The RKI counted 3,433,516 confirmed infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the pandemic began. The actual total is likely to be much higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI gave the number of people who recovered as 3,061,500. The total number of people who died from or with involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 increased to 83,591
